End of Year Stats 2018/19

25th April 2019

Rutland Foodbank provided 1113 three day emergency food parcels to local people between April 2018 to March 2019. Of this number, 484 went to children.

The figures from Rutland Foodbank are a 31% increase on the same period last year. The local increase is primarily due to people struggling on low income, benefit delays and benefit changes.  Issues include the five-week wait associated with Universal Credit.

Our figures feed into a larger national picture with a record increase in food bank use across the UK reported today by the Trussell Trust.

Rutland Foodbank backs calls from Trussell Trust to ensure the benefits system is able to protect people from poverty.

We are so grateful for the generosity of the people of Rutland who donate food and money, and for our volunteers who enable us to meet this need in the community.
